Character Application
Character Name: Hirune Kysely
Fandom: Hamsteak OC
Gender: Female.
Age: 10 sweeps—about 21
Canon Point: About a year after she started aggressively dodging the draft like a boss; she's basically been living on the run alone, which is not that different than usual except she's not staying in one place.
Power: Rao—Hirune, while stern, is also an ardent follower of the Sufferer's teachings of peace and unity, and prizes reasoned discourse above all else, as she believes that through discussion people can come to agreement, as the truth will become undeniable.

Orientation: Hirune is pansexual, as most of her people tend to be, although she tends to have more interest in male-presenting persons. Which is not really saying a lot since she doesn't show interest in most anyone. She is far more interested in an engaging mind than anything else and, furthermore, tends to end up acting as a mother figure to most people she cares about anyway, which sort of throws off the relationship dynamic.

Suitability: n/a

History: Hirune Kysely was born on the crapsack world of Alternia, where she had to fight, claw, and murder her way through the Trials to earn her right to continued existence. The Alternian people, Trolls, are raised by creatures called Lusii specifically bred to be custodians to the young; Hirune's was a fruit bat. As was customary, when she was old enough she designed her own living space ("hive"), which was, initially, near the hives of some other trolls about her age she knew a little bit. Hirune was introverted, but didn't want to be lonely.

However, as they grew older, the violence inherent in their people's blood began to present itself more fully, and her friends turned against one another. Hirune, who was a bit of a thinker, realized she found the infighting between young trolls abhorrent; she was more interested in building things that would last than fighting and conquest.

Not to say she wasn't competent at fighting. The former friends who thought she would be an easy target found out the hard way that going up against a cunning opponent should be undertaken with caution. Or they would have, if they had survived the fight.

Unsure of her place in the world, Hirune abandoned her hive and moved to a forest some distance away, where she began to build a new one. The forest was overrun with a lot of giant insectile monsters, but her flying lusus and combat skills made it easier for her to navigate. She would eventually build a solitary tower there, and walkways between the trees to more easily gather fruit from them. On the top level, she built an observatory with which to contemplate the rest of the universe; a universe that she hoped held more possibilities than this. And there she lived in solitude.

It was while exploring the forest around her that she came upon the weird little shrine—well, not so much a shrine as a marker. It had the symbol she'd been given at birth on it, three rings arranged in a triangle, which piqued her interest. Poking around it, she found a sealed box, which she realized was a puzzle box—you needed to solve the puzzle to open it. After many nights and sleepless days working on getting it open, she finally unlocked it, and inside was a book—one of the few extant copies of a long-banned text about a troll known only as the Sufferer, annotated in ink of her own blood color.

The Sufferer had lived long ago, and had seen visions of an Alternia where trolls lived happily, in peace with each other, and helped each other to build a thriving civilization. Art and music were valued; trolls read books and would scorn things like Alternian Shores if there had been such a thing; children put trust in their friends. A world where blood color, place on the hemospectrum, didn't matter, where tyrian pink could be friends with red. In the end, allying with other trolls—the Dolorosa, the Psiionic, and the Disciple—he led a revolution against the tyranny of the Condescence, but in the end they were defeated. Only the Disciple survived to write down his story.

It changed her life. Hirune took a good deal of comfort from the idea that someone else was discomfited by the way Alternian society worked, and was enraptured by the alternate vision that the Sufferer put forth. He thought it was possible. Could it be? If people worked to achieve it—perhaps.

However, Hirune continually found herself disappointed by her peers, even only speaking to them through Trollian, her chat client. Most of the highbloods were too comfortable in their position and quick to eat up Imperial propaganda that they were hopeless; many of those lower on the hemospectrum were too easily cowed and unwilling to risk themselves. That, and, because Alternia, a significant part of the population was batshit insane.

:T

There were a few people she thought were tolerable, though. And by tolerable meaning either A) intelligent and worthy of holding a conversation with or B) oh my god she is going to mother you forever come here don't become a violent meanie okay

And then one of the category-A friends called her up about the end of the world and this game she'd made called Scrib and that's when it all went completely nuts.

[stuff about scrib wheeee]

Personality: Hirune is very serious and comes off as rather stern; she takes things very seriously and, while she does have a sense of humor, one might not guess it about her. Things, in her opinion, are quite dire, and she thinks that she is merely responding to it in the way that she ought to be. She tends to spend a lot of time thinking about The State of Things and other very intellectual things, as she spends a lot of time by herself with books; as a result her topics of conversation are a little unusual and don't make her many friends. (She heavily laces conversation with her opinions, which can be somewhat off-putting.)

Abilities: Hirune is actually fairly normal; she is, however, a practiced martial artist and fights with a pair of heavy metal fans with razor edges. She is also pretty stealthy and has a strange tendency to not show up on surveillance cameras or scans.

Appearance: Hirune is tall and somewhat beanpole-like, although she has filled out somewhat since her adolescence. She has a serious demeanor and doesn't smile often; she will probably get wrinkles early, if she lives that long. Her rectangular glasses don't really help belie the impression of sternness.

Like other Alternian trolls, she has grey skin, naturally black hair, slightly pointed ears, yellow irises, and tricolored horns; her horns are shaped sort of like mirror-imaged letter-S. (...just look at the picture.) Her pupils are now the color of her blood, a teal-bluish-green. The teeth of her people tend to vary by diet and caste; Hirune has relatively blunt teeth as troll teeth go, but they're still sharper than, say, human teeth. Her hair is about to her mid-back and generally worn tied back in some way; nothing elaborate. She generally wears simple clothing with a touch of femininity; she's stopped wearing her symbol because fuck the police but she does have a pendant of the Sufferer's symbol that she still holds onto.

Oh, and those below-the-waist deets.

Like all trolls, Hirune is a hermaphrodite; the parts are generally referred to as a bulge (output) and a nook (input). The bulge is prehensile and retracts into the body when she's not aroused. (Which is mostly.) The nook is basically a vagina. They tend to flush the color of her blood because... uh, yeah. /jazzhands
